Common military transcript terms

The Army, Navy, Marines and National Guard all rely on the Joint Service Transcript for documenting all college credit-worthy training received.Ìý

The American Council of Education (ACE) reviews military training (courses) and experiences (occupations) with the goal of awarding equivalent colle​ge credits for those experiences. °®¶¹´«Ã½ evaluates those transcripts to determine whether it can grant course credit for your military training. Ìý

The Air Force uses the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript for documenting all college credit-worthy training received. Air Force-enlisted personnel should complete an AF Form 2099, Request for Community College of the Air Force Transcript, at the base education office and have the transcript sent directly to their °®¶¹´«Ã½Â® military Enrollment Representative. (Transcripts sent directly to students are unofficial copies and will be stamped “Issued to Student.â€)Ìý

DSST (formerly DANTES) provides active duty military personnel an opportunity to earn college credits through testing programs. If you receive a passing score on the DSST exam you may be eligible to receive credit towards your program requirements.ÌýÌý

General Education Mobile (GEM) program

The GEM program connects CCAF students — from anywhere in the world via the Internet — with regionally accredited civilian academic institutions that offer freshman- and sophomore-level general education courses covering oral and written communication, math, social sciences and humanities. These courses fulfill the 15 semester hours of the CCAF Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree general education requirements.

You may be able to earn college credit for military experience. As an active-duty service member, Veteran, or member of the Reserves, you can list your military experience on your application and sign a transcript request form. We will request your military transcripts for you and let you know how many credits have been accepted.Ìý

Upon applying to °®¶¹´«Ã½, submit your military transcripts. We will review your military transcripts and determine the total college credit for military training applied to your program.ÌýÌý

Bootcamp or basic training will be listed on your military transcript. The American Council of Education (ACE) will review your military training and °®¶¹´«Ã½ will evaluate your military transcripts to determine whether course credits can be granted for your military training.ÌýÌý

Your military transcript will include college credits for military experience as evaluated by The American Council of Education (ACE) including: your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training, Army Advanced Individual Training (AIT), military jobs and completed courses.Ìý
